Electric Transport Cart

Traditional rail transfer carts are limited to fixed routes. The trackless electric transport cart, on the other hand, is like a large remote-controlled car.

Last week, I visited our auto-parts workshop. Our operators, with remote controls in hand, were maneuvering mold transporters on flatbed carts from ten meters away. There are three curves between the injection-molding machine and the quality-inspection area, which makes a rail-mounted vehicle impractical. We relied on this electric transport cart, which moved the molds into place in just five minutes.

During our year-end review last year, our finance department and I ran some numbers. Purchasing a 20-ton trackless transport cart costs about the same as the annual salary of two forklift operators - but with a lifespan of over ten years, it represents significant savings, even before considering the cost of renting forklifts. Most importantly, it can handle a wide variety of materials - steel plates one day, molds the next.

Safety is always my top priority. A good electric transport cart comes equipped with multiple safety features, such as an emergency stop button, anti-collision sensors, and an overload alarm. I remember once in the foundry, a flatbed cart automatically slowed to a stop just before it hit a pile of material, leaving the experienced technicians amazed. One of them said, "It's much more stable than a beginner trying to operate a forklift."

Despite its simple operation, this equipment is powerful. It can be customized to carry loads from 1 to 200 tons, and its chassis is exceptionally stable. Last month, I saw a forging plant using a 50-ton flatbed cart to transport molds heated to 300 °C. The process was completely stable - not even a slight sway.
